The second partnership was with HBS Bolzenschweiss Systeme GMBH of Dachau. HBS designed and manufactured a complete line of leading edge technology studwelding equipment.
In 1993 both of these partnerships were changed to privately held stand alone operational entities. Their new names were Decon® Studrail® Inc. & CHBS Studwelding Equipment Ltd. In 1998 Decon® USA Inc. was also founded.
In 1991 one of the shareholders of Constud purchased 75% of the shares of AGM Industries Inc, and AGM International Inc [AGM] located in Canton MA. The remaining 25% was purchased by DEHA. Today AGM is located in Brockton MA. AGM started operations in 1961. AGM manufactures a complete line of studweldable and non-studweldable insulation industry related fasteners. AGM also manufactures capacitor discharge Studwelding equipment.
During the early 90s Constud and its two partnerships along with the
newly amalgamated AGM survived one of the worst recessions in modern history.
Since 1994, steady growth has occurred in Constud and all of the associated
companies. Constud has added additional staff and increased manufacturing
capabilities during the 90s and early 2000s. It stands poised
and ready to meet the challenges and opportunities of the upcoming years.
A dedicated, cross trained sales, manufacturing, and administrative staff
is the keystone to our success. We extend application engineering and service
support to all products we manufacture. We appreciate and thank-you for the
sales support we have had over the years. We solicit, and are prepared to
earn your future business.

merge to form Continental Decon Inc.
Continental Studwelding Ltd. (Constud) dates back to 1946. Three entrepreneurs Frank Keleman, Basil Spalding, and Charles Mikulka founded KSM Products Inc. in New Jersey to manufacture studweldable fasteners and studwelding equipment. A wholly owned subsidiary KSM Canada Ltd. was formed in 1958 to provide a stocking facility to cater to the Canadian studwelding market. KSM Canada Ltd. commenced manufacturing weldpins® and weldstuds® on a gradual basis and by the late 70s was producing a complete range of studweldable fasteners from 14 gauge insulation weldpins® right up to 7/8 X 8 3/16 shear connectors.
Market growth and penetration resulted in rapid expansion of the parent and International subsidiaries of KSM Products Inc. In 1966 Omark Industries Inc. of Portland Oregon purchased KSM Products Inc. The name was changed to KSM Fastening Systems Inc division of Omark Industries Inc. Omark [a world leader in the manufacture of chains; for chain saws] brought a high degree of management and manufacturing expertise to the new acquisition, while allowing autonomy to the operational management team. Between 1958 and 1970 KSM Canada Ltd. grew at a rapid rate necessitating three expansionary changes of location. A direct stocking warehouse was opened in Calgary, Alberta and additional capital assets were procured to effectively cater to the increased market demand.
In the early 80s it became apparent that the KSM Fastening System division no longer fit into the subsidiary portfolio of the publicly traded parent. Systematic divestiture of the various foreign subsidiaries of KSM Fastening Systems Inc. was initiated. In 1983 the American parent was sold to the management team. On December 20th 1983 KSM Canada Ltd. was sold to the Canadian management team. Omark was not prepared to sell the name KSM Canada Ltd. The new name chosen was Continental Studwelding Ltd. which was federally incorporated on the same day. The new company continued to grow resulting in another expansion. In April of 1988, Constud moved into its present 63,880 square foot design build facility located in Brampton, ON.
During the late 80s Constud experienced explosive growth during a booming economy. At the same time it entered into equal partnership agreements with two separate German International Companies to expand its product line and manufacturing horizons. The first partnership was with DEHA Ankersysteme GMBH & Co KG, of Gross-Gerau. DEHA was a world leader of many specially engineered construction products including Studrails®, Tension rods, lifting/transport anchors and rebar couplers.
